A 'U' should be suitable for audiences of four years and over, although it is impossible to predict what might upset any particular child. U films should be set up with a positive framework and should offer reassuring counterbalances to any violence, threat or horror. Drugs, discrimination, bad language, sexual nudity, sexual content and high levels of violence are very unlikely to be seen.
A 'PG' or Parental Guidance film is for general viewing however some scenes maybe unsuitable for young child. 'PG' films should not unsettle children aged 8 or above. A child of any age may come to watch unaccompanied, although parents are encouraged to consider whether the film may upset younger or more sensitive children. Much like a 'U' film you are unlikely to see positive references to drugs, discrimination, bad language, sexual content or high levels of violence.
