Rough

Cut Feedback

From the online survey we have found out that our music video has the right atmosphere for our genre which is good, this means we do not have to drastically change our music video and now we can just tweak it with better camera shots and filters that help portray the narrative and performance better.

We also found out that our audience liked "the use of filters because it shows a difference between the settings". This is what we were intending to portray with our filters which is great and we can also edit the filters slightly to portray different atmospheres during the narrative.

Our audience did not like "Some of the shots in both the narrative and performance look quite staged. The shot of the red guitar also looks like it is repeated a lot". This is a problem that my group and I have also recognised which is why we went out to re shoot the performance while also getting enough clips to make sure we wont run out of material. We did this by shooting the performance as a whole 2-3 times.

When talking about the settings the audience said "The settings are great, especially having the performance in the Library as it is meant to be a quiet place but it has a band playing in it." This is exactly what we were going for during the performance and we are glad the audience picked up on it. Another audience member said "I like the setting" which means we do not have to edit the settings and we can stick with what we have got which is brilliant.

The filters used during the rough cut are quite extreme and we plan to change them by making them less powerful and our audience agrees by saying "They’re quite washed out but I think it works" and "The saturation and the black and white filter for the narrative feels too strong and needs to be toned down". Overall our audience agrees with this and so we plan on doing it because that is what our audience wants.

We also wanted to get feedback on the camerawork of our performance and narrative and the audience said "I like it. All of the shots of the singer seem like they’re from the same angle but I don’t know if this was intensional". This is one of the reasons why we have decided to re shoot the performance and is does not seem as high of quality as we can get it and so by re shooting we hope to increase the amount of different shots we will use during the performance.

Finally we asked our audience if there was anything more we could improve on for our rough cut and they stated "Maybe have some different shots of the guitar" and "The filter for the narrative needs to be changed". With this constructive criticism in mind will try and bend our music video to make it more for what our audience wants and so the filter for the narrative will be edited to make our audience happy and we will film more guitar shots when we re shoot out performance as this is what our audience desires.
